RIP Madiba 1918 – 2013

I feel that I must leave a tribute to Madiba here.

A word that sticks with me when I think of Madiba is UNITY.

He brought us together as a nation. He brought people together in the world. He made us see each other differently.

I will never forget the amazing love and UNITY on the streets after the Rugby World cup. Seeing in the media that regular; gridlocked; peak hour roads were silent when the matches began.

AND THEN; witnessing every person imaginable on the streets hugging – sharing in sheer euphoria; when South Africa won.

I think that this is the feeling that encapsulates what Madiba did for our country.

I hope with all of my heart that South Africans can remember this feeling and allow the happiness and peace he created; to spread through the country once again.

KZN’ners are turning on their headlights today as a tribute to  Madiba – so turn your head lights on and UNITE in his memory.

Rest in Peace Madiba. You are free.
