Symbolic Pollution

Signs and symbols for lessons come to you in the strangest ways.

Over the last few days we have been blessed with some much needed rain.

My children had asked about the vast amount of road accidents during the week and I explained to them about the emissions, the pollution caused from vehicles on the road surface. I went on to explain further that when it rains that this makes the road surface more slippery and that a lot of people forget this.

Rain as any form of water is cleansing. It cleans out the old and makes everything fresh and new again.

Over the weekend the constant rain had left quite a few sizable puddles. My daughter noted that the pollution we were talking about during the week had made rainbows in the puddles on our driveway.

This was extremely symbolic for me.
Where as the rain cleans, refreshes and brings new growth it also brings dirt off surfaces… and TO THE SURFACE!

Which made me think of this double barreled symbolism.

Where one shouldn’t judge a book by its cover, we should also be aware of the wolf in sheeps clothing.

My mother warned me about people like this… the wolves can arrive in human and spiritual form. She taught me that being well aware of positives and negatives is valuable. How negatives or evil can disguise itself as something good.

When we focus too much on not judging and being kind we forget that there’s a “devil” inside of everyone.

Which makes me think of the Donald Sutherland quote from the movie “The Italian Job” – he said: “I trust everyone. I just don’t trust the devil inside of them.”

This is why one should never follow another person. Never do as another person says. Like the saying says, “beware of blindly following the masses, sometimes the ‘M’ is silent. It is important to know your own truth, and to learn for yourself where the truth lies.

Once again life is about balance. Looking at the BIGGER picture. We can’t scratch the surface and imagine that we have all the facts.
Living spiritually this becomes more apparent.
We have to DIG DEEP… And learn and grow.

Just like the rain brought the pollution to the surface, it clears our vision allowing us to see that muck and thus gives us an opportunity to clear it from our lives.
