HAPPY

For three days last week I was stuck at home, filled to the absolute metaphorical brim – with cabin fever.

On Monday morning I tried to take my daughter to school and – well – Little Black – “was so dood soos n mossie” – “dead as a door nail” – “the lights were on but no one was home” – got the picture?

Let me say from the start that I am immensely grateful to my friends for doing the taxi runs for me. I was still excessively tense though. I pride in knowing that no matter what; I am on time to fetch my children; not once have they had to wait not knowing where I was. This simple task was taken away from me and I was LOST!My creative juices left the building with Elvis; I was disoriented; perplexed; and vulnerable. It’s amazing how a car defines your independence – knowing that there is no way to get up and go puts you in a corner like Baby.

So I waited – not – so – patiently – for my Patrick Swayze to come and take me out of that corner and allow me to dance again.

He arrived; better late than never… So when I went out to start Little Black she vroomed hello baybee!

Pharrell’s HAPPY played on repeat in my head and I didn’t feel the slightest annoyance.

This sparked me to think about how grateful I was – the simplest things can turn your day around and make you have the time of your life.

So today I am grateful for being able to take my daughter to school.

I am happy to be able to collect my children from school at the end of their day.

I am grateful that I could DRIVE to the farmers market and choose an assortment of fruit and vegetables. I am grateful to – look at a basket filled with fruit and not know which to eat first.

I am grateful to be inspired with a positive tale – and I hope that it inspires you too.

I am HAPPY; inspired; grateful; thankful; and free…

I asked on facebook for people to comment about the thing that makes them happy; the something that makes them grateful… and promised them a mention…

And here they are: Here is what makes YOU happy.

Farrah Khan Maharajh: “happiness is getting home from work and all my furbabies are there”.

“don’t need to mention my name, but for me it’s just being content in my own home with my gorgeous hubby and my 7 fur-babies.”

Thandoh Buhle: “i wont lie Music makes me happy & to me happiness is the emotion or feeling of not having any worries or probs but happiness is all about wearing a smile in your face & all the laughter”

Stephanie Cornelius: “I agree with Farrah… Especially when the one smiles up at me as if she hasn’t seen me for weeks, relaxation and happiness just melt into my soul at that point! Plus chocolate lol never forget chocolate as an uber source of happiness!”

And I LOVE these!:

Samantha-lee Bunnyfluff: “My baby boy, my bunnies enjoying some rays under the sun, newly shaved legs on fresh clean sheets, my mom around Christmas time. I think happiness is a content state of being. Most people enjoy big “happy moments” I like to take the tiny moments of each day and find the perfect in each moment, the truth is I feel we only realise happiness once we have passed the moment. Selflessness has taught me to live happy, take every last second and spend it positively (as hard as it may be)”

Sallyanne West Graham: “True happiness comes from within when you are truly grateful for every single thing in your life. You need to find that peace and happiness that is already within you…. then you are in the happiness zone.”
